Interactive Science Training
Agami Education Foundation (AEF), a sister organization of Agami Inc., USA, has successfully completed a four-day long “Interactive Science Training” held from February 25-28, 2020, at the AEF office in Dhaka. 15 teachers from 11 Agami supported primary schools participated in this 1 st phase Interactive Science Training program.
This training was arranged with a view to providing teachers with the opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of both Science Teaching and Continuous Assessment, through sample lesson plans. Ministry of Education, Bangladesh decided to implement Continuous Assessment in class I-V from 2021. AEF organized this training program to train teachers of Agami sponsored primary schools to equip them earlier with this new approach.
Nafisa Khanam, Executive Director of AEF, facilitated different training sessions accompanied by some members of the Teacher Training Team of AEF. The training provided an extensive overview of teaching, feedback, assessment, areas of assessment, portfolios and the ways of science teaching in the first two days. Teachers demonstrated simulation classes on the given lesson plans in different sessions in last two days.
The training was conducted in accordance with the “Interactive Training Manual for Science” developed by Nafisa Khanam and her team which was reviewed by Doctor Jack Holbrook, International Consultant in Curriculum, Assessment, Teacher Education. This publication is a milestone in the history of AEF and Agami Inc. The objective of the manual and training is to increase the ability of assessing student’s 3 domains of learning in effective way.
Moreover, every student of grade III is provided with individual science lab notebook and portfolio for the first time. AEF also provided all necessary equipment, teaching aids and about 9,000 colored worksheets & assessment grids for successful implementation of the lessons. From 1 st phase training, direct beneficiaries are 400 students of class III.
Teachers’ Training and Development project will continue this training and follow-up monitoring for all teachers of Agami schools throughout the year. Earlier, Nafisa Khanam, Excective Director of AEF inaugurated the program. The program concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants.
