For parents in Laxmipur Simanata Bazaar and three neighboring villages, situated in the remote upazila of Jhenaidha district were in need of a school to send their children for education. That situation changed in 2003 when a few local individuals came together and founded the Laxmipur Simanta Bazaar Primary School. Established on 37 decimals of land donated by local people, the school currently has four teachers nurturing 150 students. It has one tinshed house with four classrooms. According to the head teacher Pronoy Majumdhar the school achieved a 100 percent pass rate in the recently published Primary School Certificate (PEC) exam in 2019.

Agami has been supporting this school since 2015. Over the years the school monitoring team noticed that the current infrastructure of the school is so dilapidated that it disrupts the normal teaching process as well as hinders the quality of education. Moreover, there are no proper toilets for teachers and students on the school premises.

In this situation, the construction of healthy toilets, including improving the infrastructure of the school is essential to ensure quality education for the students.

Agami has been evaluating the school condition and logistics required to help renovate the school and continue providing education to these underprivileged children. The school authorities believe that students' enrollment, attendance and participation will increase significantly along with the improvement of the school and its services.
