Annual Science Fair

If you grew up learning that science is a class where you memorize clunky, four-syllable words and follow instructions straight out of the lab manual, raise your hand. That’s just the kind of thinking that LiF-‘Life is Fun’ program is working on to change where students develop ideas for science as a subject. Too often, students think that science is about rote memorization and step-by-step procedures, rather than active and live experiment. LiF helps to realize that science is a process. Students might be working on something and all of a sudden they get data they didn’t expect to get and that’s all it takes for them to go off on a tangent. Now that’s real science.

Keeping this concept in mind ‘Life is Fun’- science education program of Agami organized the Annual Science Fair on 5th October 2019. Students from class three, four and five from Shohag Shwapnodhara School, Nandipara PSD School, Alok Shikkhaloy, Bangladesh Mohila Samity School, and Pearabag PSD school displayed their amazing science projects.

Among the projects on display, one particular project on “Water Purification” by the students of PSD Pearabag secured the highest marks from the judges. The judges were so impressed by their project that one of them even drank their purified water, which thrilled the students. After the fair, they expressed how they were influenced by the session of ‘Water’ conducted by the LiF team and how hard they worked to make their project successful. The students wished for the continuation of the science fair in the coming years. Moreover, LiF Science Fair 2019 has been successful in offering an opportunity to showcase their talent and enthusiasm.
