2004 - Breaking Barriers, Building Dreams

Agami's 20 Years of Educational Empowerment

Overview:

In Bangladesh, where economic disparities are prevalent, ensuring access to quality education for underprivileged children remains a critical challenge. However, amidst these challenges, Agami school programs have emerged with the noble mission of supporting the education of underprivileged children in Bangladesh regardless of their socioeconomic background. These initiatives not only provide educational opportunities but also pave the way for a brighter future for these children and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the nation.

Started in 2003 with just two schools, Agami’s School Program is managing 19 schools (as of 2023), each dedicated to providing comprehensive support to students from marginalized communities in Bangladesh. Through initiatives encompassing tiffin provisions, uniforms, stationery, free education, exam fee coverage, teachers' salaries, study tours, and device support, Agami's school program has become a beacon of hope for countless children, offering them the opportunity to breaking the cycle of poverty and realize their full potential. Regular monitoring is undertaken to measure progress and provide results for evidence-based decision-making.

The Need for Supportive School Programs:

Bangladesh, despite remarkable progress in various sectors, continues to face socioeconomic challenges. Many children from impoverished backgrounds struggle to access education due to financial constraints, lack of resources, and societal barriers. Consequently, these children are often deprived of fundamental rights, including the right to education. Recognizing this issue, the School Program started interventions in 2023 with an aim to create an enabling environment where every child can thrive and bring holistic change and thus grew accordingly by supporting the educational needs of more than 20,000 students across the country in Agami-sponsored schools.

School Program's Comprehensive Support Model:

At the heart of Agami's school program lies a comprehensive support model designed to address the multifaceted barriers that underprivileged children face in accessing quality education. From ensuring basic necessities such as tiffin, uniforms, and stationery to covering exam fees and providing free education, Agami's initiatives leave no stone unturned in supporting the educational journey of these targeted children. Additionally, teacher salaries are ensured to attract and retain qualified educators who play a pivotal role in shaping students' futures. Moreover, study tours and device support open up new horizons for learning, exposing students to diverse experiences and equipping them with essential skills for the digital age.

Impact Stories: Transforming Lives, Fulfilling Dreams

The impact of the comprehensive school program is profound, with countless success stories showcasing the transformative power of education. Many students who once faced bleak prospects are now excelling academically, pursuing higher education, and contributing positively to their communities. School Program’s alumni, ranging from aspiring professionals to community leaders and changemakers, serve as inspirations for others to follow in their footsteps. Many alumni have achieved higher education, secured employment, and assumed leadership roles within their communities. Moreover, these programs not only transform individual lives but also foster a culture of inclusivity and social responsibility within communities.

The Story of Becoming a Doctor

Nazmul Hasan, aged 31, overcame financial obstacles in an underserved community to become an inspiring role model. He excelled academically, achieving an impressive GPA of 5.00 both in the SSC and HSC examinations. His lifelong dream of becoming a doctor saw a breakthrough in 2012 when he secured a place in a competitive medical entrance exam. In 2017, he proudly earned his MBBS degree from Anam Medical College in Savar. Nazmul's journey continued as he qualified for the Bangladesh Civil Service examination (42nd BCS), and was recommended as an assistant surgeon. He attributes his remarkable success to his unwavering dedication and the invaluable support he received from Agami and Aalok Shikkhaloy along the way.

Challenges and Commitment to the Future:

The Agami School Program has achieved remarkable success from 2003 to 2023. However, challenges persist in ensuring sustainable impact and scalability, including limited resources, infrastructure constraints, and evolving educational needs. As the Agami School Program plans for the future, it remains dedicated to its mission of empowering underprivileged children through education and aims to achieve even greater heights. Together, we can work towards a brighter, more inclusive future where every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. The Agami School Program seeks to expand its impact and contribute to creating a more equitable society where every child has access to quality education.

Conclusion:

Agami's school programs serve as a testament to the transformative power of education in both individual lives and communities. These programs play a crucial role in breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering a more equitable society. As Agami Inc. commemorates 20 years of empowering education, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters, volunteers, partners, and beneficiaries who have contributed to this remarkable journey.
