From Local to Global:NCTB-aligned Grade 6 Math course goes live on Khan Academy
We’re thrilled to announce a major milestone—a comprehensive Grade 6 Mathematics course in Bangla, aligned with the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) of Bangladesh, is now live and freely accessible on the Khan Academy!
This course blends Khan Academy’s global content, localized by Agami, with original learning materials in Bangla developed by our team—ensuring international quality along with cultural and curricular relevance for Bangla-speaking learners worldwide.
It includes 120+ instructionally designed videos (72% originally produced) and 100+ problem-solving exercises (36% locally created), all mapped to the eight chapters of the NCTB Grade 6 Mathematics textbook—offering a robust, curriculum-aligned learning experience for learners.
A Decade of Dedication: From 2011 to Today
Agami’s collaboration with Khan Academy began in 2011, with a shared goal of making quality education accessible to Bangla-speaking learners. The Bangla site officially launched in 2016, featuring content aligned and localized to Bangladesh’s national curriculum.
What began as a translation effort soon grew into developing original, curriculum-aligned videos and exercises to fill key gaps. By combining Khan Academy’s pedagogy with national standards, we created math content for Grades 3 to 7—though until recently, it was only available offline within Bangladesh.
Going Global: PoC to Live
The journey toward global accessibility began in 2018 through Khan Academy International’s Gap-Filling Project, initiated as a Proof of Concept (PoC) to explore the potential of localized content. By 2023, this vision advanced with a focus on delivering high-quality, curriculum-aligned learning resources, selecting Grade 6 Mathematics as the pilot course.
With training and support from the Khan Academy International content team, the Agami team officially onboarded in 2024. In March 2025, the Grade 6 course went live on bn.khanacademy.org—marking a significant milestone in expanding access to Bangla-language education worldwide.
